WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT WILLIS?

I grew up when Diff'rent Strokes was a popular television show. That's no big deal unless your last name is Willis. To this day I still hear those famous words popularized by Arnold: "Whatchu talkin bout Willis?" Usually they are uttered by someone looking at me as though I may have never heard it before. Yeah, right! Well this blog is what I (Willis) am talkin bout...my thoughts, observations & opinions. Enjoy...

Still Relevant

The late Dr. Roger Chambers wrote the following way back in 1982, but it's still just as relevant today...
"Our generation of the Church is childish. Too often we play word games in
the pulpit, sing syncopated nonsense and call it church music – or worse,
praise, and fight over who pays for the hot dogs when the God Squad goes on it’s
next spiritual retreat at Circus World. Secular society doesn’t hate the Church;
it doesn’t take the Church that seriously. The world knows it’s in deep trouble,
so it can’t take time for our stained glass amusement centers; it doesn’t see
that we have very much to do with reality. We’re in this fix because too many of
our leaders are intellectual children. "
- Roger Chambers

I wish I could've known this brother. Thankfully technology has preserved some of his work. For the enitre article click here.

That's funny, on a Christian forum today we were talking about the trend of using secular music as worship songs, or putting worship songs to secular music: like "Just As I Am" to Van Halen's "Jump".

A little while later on the radio a song came on that made me laugh out loud. I thought, "Wow, that would be a perfect song for a lot of churches."

The song? Grateful Dead, "I may be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride."

True, true, true.
