WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT WILLIS?

I grew up when Diff'rent Strokes was a popular television show. That's no big deal unless your last name is Willis. To this day I still hear those famous words popularized by Arnold: "Whatchu talkin bout Willis?" Usually they are uttered by someone looking at me as though I may have never heard it before. Yeah, right! Well this blog is what I (Willis) am talkin bout...my thoughts, observations & opinions. Enjoy...

Crying in the Chapel - Allies

That's Bob "Butterfly Kisses" Carlisle singing lead for Allies. This is from WAY BACK IN THE DAY - the late 80's! The band broke up in the early 90's and Bob went on to brief mainstream success. This song is from the album "Long Way From Paradise" - an all time classic IMHO.

We've got loud guitars
And a rockin' band.
Ain't gonna stop
Until you understand...

Dude, that brings back memories.

I remember Allies from my Bible College days, but I didn't realize that Bob C. was the lead singer. Dude has some pipes, eh?

I guess I'm too young a christian to know who these guys are. No offense but I'm glad the Christian music market has improved.

There is no one today who could hang with Bob.

Ooo... Levi. Sacrilege. Back in the day, there wasn't anything better than these guys. Granted, I didn't dig this cover. Some of their other stuff was really good, though.

And I personally don't think too many bands today in the Christian scene are much better.

Allies were very eclectic. I prefered their rocking tunes, but Bob was immensely versatile & their albums displayed various genres.

"Walk with me Silent" was one of my all-time favs. I've thought of covering it on a Beatle-esque project I want to record in a few years.
