WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT WILLIS?

I grew up when Diff'rent Strokes was a popular television show. That's no big deal unless your last name is Willis. To this day I still hear those famous words popularized by Arnold: "Whatchu talkin bout Willis?" Usually they are uttered by someone looking at me as though I may have never heard it before. Yeah, right! Well this blog is what I (Willis) am talkin bout...my thoughts, observations & opinions. Enjoy...

Finally

Finally, we get a "real" vacation. At least that's what we are palnning and we have put he $$$ down on the place, so we are locked in. My family and I are going to head off to the relaxing environment of western Virginia this August. This might not seem so monumental, but this will be the first time we've actually gone anywhere for a vacation that wasn't at one of our relative's homes. And we are going for an entire week! We will be joined by 3 other couples and their children too. Ever the cynic I'm just hoping that all the church members stay alive that week! My last to "vacations have been interrupted, so hpoefully the 3rd time will be a charm as they say.

Supper 8, Super 8, Motel 6!

We just started at new program at church called "Supper 8's." The idea is to that 8 people (usually 4 couples) get together monthly for a meal. We mix people up and change groups quarterly all in an attempt to get more people connected in the body. Anyway, one of our leaders comes up to me in the hall last week and says "This Motel 6 thing is really going to help people get to know each other." Yeah, it sure will... I can't wait to promote it: We are asking four couples to meet at the Motel 6 ever month so they can get to know each other better!

Al Sharpton...Where are you?

I want to weigh in on the whole Duke rape scandal. I'm having a flashback to Al Sharpton & the Tawana Brawly "scandal." It's very possible that I'm wrong, but I'm predicting exoneration for the alledged Duke rapists. Afterall, the D.A. has no D.N.A. evidence! His pictoral evidence isn't helping much either. I'm sure, however, that their will be protests and riots in Durham. We will hear of double standards in the justice system and of racial unrest (translation = angry mobs of black folks in the streets). Somehow the "confederate flag" will be brought into this too. Sharpton, Jackson & other phony "reverends" will call for the Justice Department to investigate. And, of course, somehow President Bush will once again be villified as a racist. Do I sound cynical? I am. Maybe I'm wrong... then again... maybe I'm not!
